Approximately 25% of all materials intended for recycling is contaminated. Recycling contamination and improper recycling causes items intended to be recycled to end up in the trash instead. Not sure if an items can be recycled? Visit dmaswa.org/wastesearch

DMASWA accepts Household Hazardous Materials, by appointment only, at our Regional Collection Center. There is no fee for Iowa residents in Dubuque County and Delaware County. Materials from Wisconsin and Illinois residents accepted for a fee. DMASWA.org/hhm

To dispose of unused, misfired or "dud" fireworks: Completely submerge fireworks in a large bucket of water overnight. Double wrap the soaked fireworks in plastic wrap plastic bags so they do not dry. Place the bagged fireworks in the trash or take them to your local landfill.
