It all boils down to this for the left: 1. White people are bad. That said, Ryan Grim, the post isn’t about the validity, to whatever degree, of the things Ken Burns decided to include in the opening of the documentary. It’s about propaganda, which is always built around lies,

I’m really trying to give this a fair hearing, but so far (I’m on ep.3) it’s a staggeringly negative portrayal of those who founded this country. To a point that I come away after each episode with the impression that the people who made it are not fans of The United States.

That stupid myth about Ben Franklin saying that the Constitution was based on the Iroquois confederacy was literally invented by a unattributed line from a John Rutledge biography from the 1960s. There’s no merit to it. Typical Ken Burns.

With all the talk about the American Revolution as we approach the 250th anniversary, I went back and took a look at my Illustrated Edition of McCullough's 1776. Who else has this edition with all the facsimiles? Pretty cool, huh?

Ah, an article trying to explain why LEDs don't last as long as promised. We need manufacturers to make incandescents again in America since Trump made it legal once again. cnet.com/deals/100-cnet…

I think it is easier for people to enjoy this Ken Burns documentary series if they haven't read up much on the American Revolution. That is to say, they don't realize the biases and mistruths in this presentation.

What did Ken Burns' 'The American Revolution' miss? A thread. This is NOT, 'What did Burns get wrong?' It IS, 'What could have been added to tell a deeper, more nuanced story?' Here we go👇

Well, I’m an actual colonel, and I’ve been a lawyer for 30 years, and my legal opinion is that this is absolutely legal. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and not assume that you are lying, but rather that you are stupid and somehow imagine that because one lawyer

Then he should know that his stupid video was over the line. If you can’t cite an illegal order, shut up about illegal orders. Pretty simple. Otherwise people might think you are encouraging a coup.

When you have to put out a “joint statement” trying to clarify a galactically stupid video trying to politicize the military, you know it is galacticlly stupid. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

False. You don't get to play the victim when you actively encouraged military personnel to defy the chain of command-- not because any of president Trump's orders are unlawful-- but simply because you're angry that his National Guard deployments to the cities have lowered crime,

There is a cottage industry of media reports over the decades predicting the state of Florida would be totally underwater by now. There is never any accountability for being wrong; they just move on to the next narrative.

If women want to be taken seriously in powerful roles, they need to stop using terms like “mansplaining” when working with men and shifting blame to men and sexism whenever they’re criticized. Men in power are also criticized relentlessly.

Shipwreckedcrew This points to the exact problem! How are ordinary soldiers to decide what an illegal order is when district and appellate courts often disagree? It’s happening more often than we would like. In some cases, lower courts don’t seem to follow SCOTUS decisions or find ways to
