I hate DJ twitter sometimes. Now I can’t look at these apartmntlife style videos the same way anymore

one thing that isn’t talked bout as much w/ viral DJ vids is that many DJs are playing other people’s work (which is all good) but their work often isn’t credited so ppl watching assume it’s the actual DJ in the vid doing everything

Agree, I’m def a small time editor of music, but when things like these go viral we should def embrace those who made the edits. Without them these YouTube mixes wouldn’t even have the same effect IMO. One of my edits are on a video with a million views, but no mentions at all.

Truth, we are all in the same community. Why not bring attention to those who help create these remixes and edits so they can gain something back. Tracklist is more than justifiable for a mention.

If you’re a DJ and someone posted a clip of you that happens to go viral where you are clearly using someone else’s mashup/DJ edit, you should reach out to that page for them to credit the person who it belongs to. It’s very easy and taking nothing from you.

DJs: They’ll tell you to pick one lane. I say follow the music that moves you. Trends fade. Authenticity lasts. Play from the heart, not the algorithm. That’s where the magic lives.

This is why I can never subscribe to the narrative that “good people finish last” or “there’s no reason or benefits of being a good person” I don’t care what evil you see winning at the moment, your morals and integrity should never be compromised to want that. That’s crazy.
