You shouldn’t have the right to live somewhere if you can’t trace your ancestry back past a certain point in time, apparently. Interesting argument. Can’t see it backfiring at all.

If you think Scotland’s cultural elite can’t get any more stupid, think again. The Women Who Wouldn’t Wheesht has been banned from the National Library’s centenary exhibition, despite winning a place, because it was deemed harmful by some staff. Blatant censorship.

Scotland's tax shortfall grows to £26.5billion (more than double the UK deficit in % terms) - but Scotland gets £2,669 per person more in public spending than the UK average, Scot Gov report shows thescottishsun.co.uk/news/15205572/…

I rather liked this review by Simon Raven of various autobiographies. If he were alive, I wonder what comments he would make regarding some recent autobiographies (particularly those written by ex politicians). #SimonRaven #Autobiography

Scot Gov managed to mess up the calculation and Scotland's notional deficit ('net fiscal balance') is actually £26.2bn. They have just confirmed this after The Scottish Sun sent them the correct figures based on some very difficult maths - ie subtracting one number from another

365 Constantinople Days Since tomorrow we celebrate the Dormition of the Theotokos, we should mention that this feast was not on a fixed date up to 600 and the 15th of August became the fixed date by emperor Maurice.

At one point under Sturgeon’s leadership the SNP denied being a nationalist party and objected to the term. This despite nationalism being the party’s raison d’etre, term widely used for internal groups and Sturgeon beginning speeches with “fellow nationalists”. All very odd.

Seems exactly what a publicly funded festival of literature is for - allowing politicians the space to insult their ( in this case internal) opponents.

Seriously? That’s so basic. Poverty as factor affecting attainment gap. Was she asked what she thought was cause or how she planned to close the gap? Did nobody around her (SPADs, officials, Cabinet colleagues, party figures…) not explain? Surely she can’t have said that.
