Love Bhavika Govil’s new work — large parts of the book are narrated from the perspective of a young girl. It is tender, joyous, and funny, even as she tries to make sense of deeply profound moments.

Recently I found the entire David Daiches set tucked deep in my cupboard. Bought the set from a second hand stall in Mumbai over 20 years ago. It has moved cities with me. I definitely do not need it, but can't seem to give up either. Looks like I am not the only one holding on😂

My favourite weekend thing has been to read biographies of female musicians, with their music in the background. I also cherish the monsoon breeze that seems to amplify their music and their personalities in the book!!

Good morning makkale! I am looking for some reading material on the Oleander tree. Any history, poetry, literature, mentions in fiction (have already caught Siddalingaiah's memoir), not too jargony if you can avoid it. Please share maadi. Thanks in advance :)

In the elevator  I think of a wonderful idea for a poem. It is unsentimental, which is unusual for me. I’d put it somewhere between Vijay Seshadri and Vijay Nambisan (no less). By the fourth floor, the kernel is fully formed. I tell myself I should

Feeling energized after attending this event — an excellent mix of people across fields and a fascinating range of topics! Always great when you are left with as many questions as answers at an academic meeting.

Wrote this piece two months ago. And then had my first win today against the 13 year old in table tennis. I would happily retire except there is a line of kids waiting to take back those points.
