New research on the role of mothers-in-law (MIL) in determining women's labor force participation (LFP) in India shows: - a MIL's death *reduces* daughter-in-law's LFP by 4.6pp - this is driven by increased workload for the daughter-in-law (due to more housework responsibilities)
