Any Black journalists there? Racism isn’t just a story for your journalism. It’s our daily emotional labour. And while I’m at it, constant repetition of what Hester said, in an almost casual way by journalists makes Black women feel it acutely. EVERY TIME.

In 2017, over a 6 month period The New Statesman 'tracked 25,688 abusive tweets sent to women MPs – half were directed at Diane Abbott'. Just look at the nastiness surfaced in response to tweets expressing solidarity with her today. This misogynoir is clearly a commitment to many.
