Tonight I met with key leaders in my congregation and informed them I was leaving the denomination and the pastorate. (I ultimately didn't mention the Catholic reason.) It was received well - they've been concerned for my health - but I'm immensely saddened about leaving them.

If you would, please pray for the pastor of my local parish; he's got such a nasty cold, it sounded mighty rough for him to get through saying mass this morning - as bad as me in the pulpit this past Sunday. I'm glad he's going home to rest after a quick errand.

Tomorrow morning is when I'll be breaking it to my congregation that I'm stepping down from the pastorate in a couple months. Hardly a cheery way to start my birthday, but it's how things have lined up. Anyway, pray for us all, please.

Thanks, everyone. It was a somber experience, and I felt nearly as though I might pass out, but everyone said they'll miss me as their pastor and wish me well in whatever's next.

On the bright side, I'm quite grateful for these gifts received yesterday from my family, and look forward to having time to dive in.

Not me reading too quickly over this tweet and having my first thought be, "Wait, I'm pretty sure that'd be a big defect of matter..." 😬

It feels almost crazy to me that it's now less than fifty days until I'm scheduled to be received into the Church (on Divine Mercy Sunday).

Well, that was without a doubt the longest sermon I've ever preached. On the plus side, my wife said it was captivating all the way through, and I'm optimistic I may regain my voice someday.
