Last weekend, Plymouth Division RMVCC linked up with the Bands of the Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps Plymouth for their First Steps Recruit training exercise at HMS Raleigh! It was an action-packed weekend with awesome field activities like cooking up a storm, mastering bivvy building, & getting sneaky with cam& con.

That was such a very special day at Windsor Castle as I was presented with my MBE by HM The King. It was great to share the experience with my parents and meet many of the other much more worthy recipients. My thanks to the Royal Household staff for being so friendly & helpful.🥈

Time for a two week road trip around Europe to tick off some more countries and try to switch off from work for a bit - yeah right! 😱😂 Antwerp and Eindhoven done today, Nijmegen and Arnhem up next. Now, what film should we watch tonight? 🤔 #EuroRoadTrip

An interesting day of WW2 history at Arnhem and Oosterbeek today, a couple of fascinating Airborne museums. Spent longer than planned there so had to skip Düsseldorf and Cologne stops, now on way to tonight’s campsite for some MEL replanning over a beer or two. #EuroRoadTrip 🚐

A superb couple of days on my #EuroRoadTrip travelling through Germany. Interesting visits to Frankfurt, & Nuremberg, then Munich (nowhere near as much drinking compared to my last visit!) and this morning to Neuschwanstein Castle. On the road to Saltzburg for schnitzel now. 🚐

Enjoyed a superb couple of days in Austria visiting Salzburg and Vienna. The military museum there was fascinating, especially to see the car in which Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated. Yesterday’s stop was in Lake Bled in Slovenia, and Italy beckons today. #EuroRoadTrip 🚐

After a few good days visiting Italy, with Lake Garda, Lake Como and Milan ticked off its now into Switzerland. But not before heading up into the clouds at Mont Blanc. Off to see some more lakes tomorrow and then a gradual journey back to Blighty. #EuroRoadTrip 🚐

A good final few days in Switzerland, France and Belgium before arriving home yesterday. Over 5k kms, 14 camp sites and way too much food. The continent seems so much smaller now. #EuroRoadTrip 🚐 Good to be home.

A great time on Friday in Birmingham at the BCO Midlands awards lunch with colleagues from Cambridge University Press & Assessment, Overbury & Savills. To top it off we won the 'Fit Out of Workplace' category. National #BCOAwards in Oct but for now my thanks to the amazing 'Project Arden' team🏆

Very much thinking about the 7 July attacks in London 20 years ago today. Clearly a horrid day for those involved & the first responders, but we also saw the best of our capital city. Grateful no colleagues were seriously hurt. Thoughts are with those who died & their relatives.

Absolutely superb to grab a wet (brew) with my good mate HQ Centre Regional Training & Projects Officer whilst I was up in Notts/Leic way on business. It was a good chance to pull up a sandbag/swing the lamp, but moreover congratulate him on his very well deserved MBE a few weeks ago. Top bloke!

A beautiful sunset in #Paris this evening from the Montparnasse Tower, ending a superb day of exploring this charming city. Nearing the end of a fantastic week in 🇫🇷 with way too much fine wine and delicious food.
