Who would have guessed that most Republicans would still vote for Trump despite the best efforts of the Democrats to be Republicans.

Harris ran an tepid, overcautious campaign, wildly misread the electorate, and was overly deferential (to put it mildly) to Biden, particularly on Gaza and the economy. But it was Joe Biden that put her and the Democratic Party in this position.

Quite funny all the Labour Party activists who, fresh off winning 33% of a low turnout vote against an imploded tory party, offered their political strategy services to the democrats.

i hope joe biden rightfully goes down as the worst president of modern american history. an insane fumble of mountainous magnitudes

The big lesson of our epoch is that liberal-centrists have no substantial ideas when in opposition or commentating, no substantial policies or ability to get anything done once in power

I hope Starmer’s Labour government takes note of what is happening in the US & resolves to markedly improve the lives of working class people, and fast. I fear the lessons won’t be learned & the far right will be on the march here in the same way too.

dreadful news to wake up to, but don’t pretend like the rise of right wing ignorance is a problem only america is facing. calling america stupid like there weren’t racists rioting in the uk two months ago. it’s a problem for all of us.

I think what I'm least looking forward to from a UK perspective is liberal talking heads congratulating themselves that "at least we're not heading that way over here" when any clear-eyed analysis of the last election result will demonstrate that's *exactly* the path we are on.

i don’t think the argument is that Palestine was a key issue among a broad base of voters, i think the idea is that Harris’s support for the genocide disheartened and demobilized the Dems’ activist base who they rely on to do the work of canvassing, turning out votes and so on

If the Democrats had won, they would have dismissed every minority's wants as inessential to achieve victory. Now that they've lost, they can dismiss every minority's wants as harmful to their cause. What's their cause anymore? Who knows! Everybody's just a Republican now!

The amount of hate that will be spewed against gay and trans people, black men, Latinos, and Arabs by disaffected Kamala supporters in the next week will be indistinguishable from GOP ramblings. Anyone but their own party and their own candidate.

Can we please all stop saying Harris tacked to the "center"? Liz Cheney and Mark Cuban are not the "center". They are the TOP. Harris tacked to the top, playing right into Trump's narrative that Dems are the party of the elite and the GOP is the party of working people.

There is not a single swing state that Kamala would’ve won if EVERY single Jill Stein, Cornell West, & Claudia De La Cruz voted for her. In states where Trump won by a large margin, populist economic policies won. Paid Sick Leave in Nebraska and Minimum Wage in Missouri:
