New research🚨HERI's @rienekeweij debunks long-held assumptions about ice age climates in the Southern Hemisphere. In nature, it shows ice ages were wetter than today and may have been ideal for plants, animals & early humans over the last 350,000 yrs 👉🏾bit.ly/3HRz4hu

While there is a slight increase in Government investment in R&D from 2022-23 to 2023-24, Australia is still well below the OECD average and needs a 10-year plan to reverse the trend. Our current science system lacks strategy and coherence—and our nation’s continued

My first day University of Melbourne. I am very excited to be joining SGEAS and to be part of the Melbourne geo community again. Today was also my Dad’s last day in his current position in the same school

“What the fuck do we have to do to get through to people how bad this really is?” Btw, my response was a warming of 3C, in line with many of my IPCC colleagues… theguardian.com/environment/ng…

It may be too much to take in all at once, but h/t to leon simons for pointing me to NOAA ERSST V5 SST monthly data beginning 1854, current through March, 2024. I included the 50 year average for 1900-1949 for good measure. This really is the beginning of the end of everything.
