I’ve always said that I know that a manuscript is ready to submit for publication when it “sings.” It’s not just varied sentence structure that makes a paper sing— it needs to go through a number of other stages first. 🧵

#EMCA Paper alert🚨 My article about police encounters involving less-than-competent subjects was published in The British Journal of #Criminology: doi.org/10.1093/bjc/az… It examines how officers improvise methods to manage troublesome responses to their queries and directives

Delighted to share Comparative Cognition Lab @ UC San Diego first empirical study on button trained dogs. We show that dogs can recognize and respond appropriately to the words produced via buttons and they respond similarly independently of who is producing the word. 1/n dx.plos.org/10.1371/journa…

Something I see a lot in qualitative research is a lack of analysis. Basically a rundown of what's in the data, but without doing anything with it (analysis). It's the qualitative equivalent of descriptive stats. Short thread.

After nearly a decade in development, our paper introducing the open-access ‘Corpus of Language Discrimination in Interaction’ is officially out in *LANGUAGE*, the flagship journal of the Linguistic Society of America. Soon-to-be open-access, but until then, I’m happy to send a PDF upon request!
