According to Charles Darwin University researchers, the centre reduced transmissions through a number of processes, including specific zones for positive cases, staff & residents, a buddy system for healthcare workers, daily health & wellness screening & reduced contact between staff & residents.

It also involved a highly skilled communicable diseases team from the NCCTRC and a health model of care approach, prioritising resident care and infection control. Menzies Research

These lessons could be a game changer on an international scale. With regional pandemics affecting at-risk communities worldwide, we need to have accessible resources on best practices that could be applied to future pandemics. #GlobalHealth

Regional pandemics are common, particularly in low income countries, where populations are particularly vulnerable. The toolkit establishes a #StandardisedCare approach to quarantine management, reducing the problems that arise from inconsistent practices and breaches of contact.

Healthcare workers will now be armed with effective strategies to combat pandemics and other public health crises thanks to the pandemic quarantine facility guide (quarantine-guide.cdu.edu.au), which draws from the success of the Howard Springs Centre for National Resilience.
