Mains were a Bacon wrapped pork loin, the City Gate Burger and Cider Battered Fish (Haddock) & Chips. The chunky triple fried chips were on point and crispy, and the batter on my fish was light and airy, coating a flavourfuk fillet of haddock.

And of course who could refuse pudding? A smooth buttery textured White Chocolate mousse was a perfect end to a really epic meal.

The City Gate boasts one of the nicest beer gardens in the centre of Exeter, as well as being a short walk from the river and the High Street. The staff were really friendly and attentive too. All around a really delicious satisfying meal in cozy surroundings ❤️❤️

I've coined the term Doing Linner. This is eating a substantial meal before dinner but after lunch. Car needed tyres so mooched around Sidwell Street. Gourmet Piri Piri still the OG 🐔place but facing stiff competition. Gourmet Loaded Fries £7.99 a pop, very worth it. #linner
