Utah's SB 498 to App Store Accountability Act Amendments flew under the radar. The bill was introduced 3 weeks ago and has already passed out of the House and just introduced in the Senate.

🚫Wrong.
The App Store Accountability gives Big Tech and Big Gov "real oversight."
🚫It does not make anything safe for anyone, especially children.
🚫It does not bring any guardrails to the marketplace, much less commonsense ones.
🚫It does not address the in-app dangers
A law saying Linux must do age verification at account setup misunderstands what Linux is.
Linux doesn’t have “account signups.” It creates local system users, not online identities. No email, no central service, no universal setup flow where age could even be checked.

Actually technically wouldn't Ubuntu be exempt from the parental ID checks on the OS. The Parent installs it and then creates a new profile for the child.. Then the child needs permission to install literally anything? Updates nope. So ID is kind of moot because it's builtin
We need to start electing privacy advocates to Congress so that we can eventually repeal the KIDS Act, because as things are now, it's likely gonna pass.
