Interesting discussion with philippe van parijs on Boston Basic Income today. youtube.com/watch?v=GMJpQz…

Tom Pogson Incremental Change is for the #Privileged Few!!! @AltruistPeter Derek Van Gorder I like to emphasize that #BasicIncome is a mechanism for getting people money (i.e. even distribution to everyone paid out regularly) rather than a particular amount. We can then ask what the optimal level of #UBI is given no other changes in fiscal policy. Is it zero?

Incremental Change is for the #Privileged Few!!! Tom Pogson Derek Van Gorder There are important problems that #BasicIncome doesn't solve. It "merely" solves the problem of how to get people their money.

Heymrpostie ManInLowCastle Alex Howlett An efficient and productive economy always needs both UBI to fuel consumption, and wages to motivate labor. As labor-saving technology improves, the necessary balance between UBI and wages shifts in UBI's favor. Striking the right balance of UBI & wages doesn't cause inflation.

On UBI Economics we're discussing Alex Howlett's appearance on Dr. Steve Keen's youtube show earlier today: youtube.com/watch?v=YRI1vw…

My colleague Phil Jackson at The Greshm Institute recently gave this talk on the economics of UBI. Automating away unpleasant work should be good for society, yet removing jobs from our economy seems to harm people. UBI resolves this apparent paradox. youtube.com/watch?v=8a-nLm…
