Wait, so parents don't want a $5000 check from the government when they have a newborn if Republicans suggest it and call it a "baby bonus", but they do want a $3600 check from the government when they have a young child if Dems suggest it and call it an "expanded child tax

New study: The relative wage premium for going to college has halved for low-income Americans since 1960. What is to blame? Rising selectivity? Tuition hikes? State disinvestment? We decompose changes in the premium since 1900 to find out. 🧵#EconTwitter nber.org/papers/w33797

Does divorce actually have a long-term impact on kids? If you read outlets like The Atlantic, NYT, or WaPo, you'll might think the story is unclear. But a new study from NBER used tax records to compare millions of siblings, finding more divorce exposure -> worse outcomes.🧵

We've had three working papers from three very different contexts (U.S., Denmark, and New Zealand) come out in the last few weeks that all argue that divorce harms kiddos and noticeably so.

Does educational attainment impact partisanship? Yes. #EconTwitter In my paper “Education and Partisanship” I use admin data on millions of voters and multiple RD designs to show that education reduces GOP affiliation across generations, settings, demographics, & institutions.

I find it interesting that there is a “girl-dad” label for men who are the father of girls. From what I can tell it’s meant to indicate that it’s ok to care for and nurture girls if you’re a dad. My question is “Why not for boys?”
