We all see the world through different spiritual "lenses." Some are based in philosophy or theology, others reflect our life experiences, or our social influences like media, education, etc. Two people, with different spiritual lenses, can see the same material thing... but

I'd like to see a modernist mega church do a rapid scene change in the middle of service and then have congregants report how it made them feel afterward. Quickly replace all the fog machines incense censors, replace stage lights with candles, pop-music is changed to reverent

I just want to know... Why is there anything rather than nothing? Science can describe how things change or emerge, but not why being exists at all. Why do the laws of nature exist—and why these laws, not others? Science assumes laws; it cannot explain their origin or necessity.

Just heard from a primary care physician: "Yeah, I think AI is going to replace all primary care physicians. It probably already could. I've seen it repeatedly do a better initial analysis of symptoms than most doctors I work with."

These are both sort of tacky and mediocre, though the bottom one does evince an obsession with uniformity and simplicity that suggests your average aspirant to homeownership has gotten less imaginative, more obtuse, and more timid about self-expression in the intervening years.

Every parent should read Jonathan Haidt's latest. But note that the kids most resistant to the Devil's brew of smartphones and social media are the ones who are conservative and religious. Secularization paved the way for the descent into despondency that Jon has so ably documented.

'He has a point, but he's too blunt.' From the start, a key tactic of the gender identitarians has been linguistic prescription, and it's proved shockingly successful. Trans activists' shibboleths and euphemisms have been allowed to penetrate the upper echelons of our culture

Annual reminder that Home Alone is a Christian movie. Watch this scene very carefully, where Kevin is drawn to the beauty and warmth of the church. As he walks inside to "O Holy Night", he hears the words "Fall on your knees, Oh hear the angel voices!" A sanctuary candle

If we don't find a way to give AI spiritual hierarchy (values, morality, sacramental worldview), it'll prove frighteningly good at doing impossibly bad things.
