Since we're all supposed to be spending more time at home lately, now is a good time to check your smoke/CO alarms and make sure your home escape plan is up to date!

Proper hand hygiene is one of the best defences against disease the we have. Also called “universal precautions” in the medical field. #washyourhands #vancouver ! Do your part to maintain a healthy lifestyle - eat well, exercise, sleep, and have a positive attitude.

Having a Home escape plan will help to ease the stress when there’s a fire in your home. Creating and practising this plan will help to take the guessing out of how to get out of your home alive. Wherever you live, you need to know howto get out. #stayalive #getoutside

Combustible materials - something that can be ignited or burned. Wood, paper, and clothing are among many other things that fall into this category. Don’t put your home or business at risk! Clean up your property and stay safe! #safetyfirst #firehazards #helpushelpyou

When you’re cleaning your home - don’t store unwanted materials outside around your home. Put out and bring in your garbage/recycling bins close to the time the truck arrives/leaves. Practice safe cooking inside your home. And make sure everyone knows a safe way out. #firesafety

We've lost one of our own. A fire fighter like no other After a lengthy battle with job related cancer caused by his many years protecting the citizens of #Vancouver Brother Steve Letourneau is now at peace. Our hearts are broken. Rest easy Steve, we will take it from here.

It’s always fun showing people the work we do at Vancouver Fire Rescue Services and even more so when they are COV Councillors. They were able to see first hand the tools and skills needed to keep City of Vancouver safe. Sarah Kirby-Yung 楊瑞蘭 with the jaws of life. Great job!

As we prepare and train for a disaster or major emergency, residents in Vancouver should be prepared ahead of time as well. Having a minimum supply of food and water to cope without services for 72 hours is important for you and your household. Canada Task Force 1 #EmergencyPreparednessWeek
