Today marked the 5th meeting of the Biodiversity & Sustainability Forum. Highlights included Dr Eddy Fitzgerald's presentation on his new book Living Plants and inspiring talks from Jennifer Murphy @Sanofi and Michelle McCarthy Dawn Meats on their sustainability efforts.


I started Ireland's most ambitious camera trap project in Wicklow as part of Snapshot Europe. Since 2021, I partnered with Lab of Wildlife Ecology & Behaviour + ReWild Wicklow deploying 150 cameras, collecting ~400,000 photos, and ~31 years worth of survey effort. 2024's highlights below! 🧵👇





Another Chinese mitten crab found in the cheekpoint area, Waterford. This small female has 1000s of eggs typically released at the end of spring early summer. Please report any sightings and get in contact Biodiversity Ireland. This is a high impact invasive alien species. UCD Science

Congrats to PhD candidate Raysa Hetherington (SETU Biology (Waterford)), who presented her poster at SETU’s Postgrad Research Conference in Carlow last week. Her research integrates morphological & molecular tools for accurate mosquito identification in Ireland.
