I've got round to writing my first blog post of the 2020s! dennisprangle.github.io/research/2022/… It revisits #ABC posterior convergence (as ε → 0), reviewing previous proofs, extending them, and discussing the underlying mathematical results.

I am delighted to share that ACM Transactions on Probabilistic Machine Learning (TOPML - yes, it reads top ML 🙂) is a new ACM journal on probabilistic ML. This is the TOPML homepage (the rest of the journal's site is under construction, watch this space): dl.acm.org/journal/topml

Good paper. training massive models on massive datasets using massive compute is so inefficient, we need new and better ideas… Paucity of compute in academia may fuel more methodological creativity… arxiv.org/abs/2304.06035

Can anyone suggest mailing lists etc where my PhD student should look for machine learning internships in the UK? I used to recommend ML-news but there's not as many internship posts there these days.

Dennis Prangle  Not aware of any such mailing lists. But I’d say Twitter is by far the most effective way to learn about internships and also get into interview processes. They’ll need to follow the “right” people and proactively respond/DM to internship alerts 🚨

Our website devoted to collecting resources and papers on simulation-based inference got an upgrade. Jason Lo is using ChatGPT to categorize papers (not everything is on the arXiv). datascience@uw simulation-based-inference.org/papers/
