Hot take: Northvolt was an amazing project. Everyone involved should be proud. Swedish/European governments should be ashamed for not bailing them out. Free markets will never produce Northvolts, and the lack of state capacity for creating ex-China industry is pure cowardice.

You're right. Europe should have funded 10 Northvolts, not 1. There should be 9 bankruptcies, not 1. Then we'd have 1 $1T company making hundreds of thousands of jobs and unleashing the clean technology reindustrialization flywheel from Thessaloniki to Trondheim.

That pretty much nails it. I would add reluctance to commit to new technologies (EVs, renewables, batteries, heat pumps, digitalization etc)
