Yellow-browed Warbler near Penicuik this morning, nearby to Glencorse Kennels. I believe this is the 1st record for Midlothian unless anyone can tell me differently Birding Lothian

Fairly quiet 2024 for me, some personal highlights below but only 5 ticks, my lowest ever total for a year. Pale-legged Leaf Warbler easily bird of the year for me but sadly no image. Definitely quality over quantity. Wishing you all a happy bird filled 2025!

Re-edited some shots from my trip to Israel in 2019 with Phil Jones & Andrew Stirrat and quite happy with the results. Black Bush Robin was the most sought after + Blackstart, Ruppell's Warbler & White-crowned Black Wheatear.

First day out yesterday for nearly 3 months after having surgery so, what better way is there start the year off with a trip to Cornwall & Somerset. Booted Eagle, Least Sand and a flock of around 80 Cattle Egrets at Shapwick Heath to end the day.

My first Snow Bunting at Musselburgh for a few years, this one seemed very tame all by itself around lunchtime, along the sea wall to the west of the old scrapes Birding Lothian

Never thought I'd end up at the Butt of Lewis today, given I was at a hospital appointment this morning in Edinburgh when news broke of this Solitary Sand 💪

Solitary Sandpiper from yesterday evening at the Butt of Lewis in near darkness. Arrived on site at 20:50 with the bird missing but Mr Pointon pulled it out the hat and the rest is history! A long smash and grab but absolutely worth it BirdGuides

Western Sandpiper at Maidens in Ayrshire, first thing this morning. It was roosting on the rocky shoreline when I arrived at 06:30 then gave great views as it flew down to the burn and began feeding with the other small waders BirdGuides
