After seeing the clips from Trump's speech at the National Prayer Breakfast, I again plead with any fellow believers with access to the President to please share the Gospel with him. As hard as that may be. Because in the end he is one more soul in need of a savior.

Many of us are ill-equipped to engage the sacred texts in a generative way because our individualist society-shaped faith teaches us that “personal Bible study” is one of the more important ways to sit with a library compiled with communal processing in mind. So people quit.

A lot of Christians are bad at reading the Bible precisely because we’ve been taught that reading it *alone* is important for our faith journey. Reading in community is how we learn to find our place within the sacred stories. Reading alone is how to grow in ignorance.

Religious people find God useful. Christians find God beautiful.
