As we’ve seen, the President cannot be trusted to hold China accountable for its brutal crackdown on #HongKong. I’m on the floor again asking that the Senate pass the bipartisan Hong Kong Autonomy Act. pscp.tv/w/1eaKbzMmLlBKX

When #Beijing is pushing through #nationalsecuritylaw and plans to pass this draconian law by June 30, about 30 Chinese troop's armoured vehicles were unprecedentedly spotted in the heart of #Hongkong on Thursday morning.

Big moment today on floor of US Senate as we are finally able to adopt clear condemnation of #China’s “national security law” cracking down on #HongKong. Today Senate speaks with one voice: China imperialism will not go unchallenged

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (@marshablackburn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The Chinese Communist Party is silencing free expression in Hong Kong. Today, the US Senate affirmed the #CCP’s HK national security law would violate Beijing’s commitment to grant HK autonomy. All free nations must stand with the people of Hong Kong.

President Donald J. Trump promised to punish the CCP officials responsible for eviscerating Hong Kong’s freedoms. Today, we are taking action to do just that– we've announced visa restrictions on CCP officials responsible for undermining Hong Kong’s autonomy and human rights.

#HKgov suddenly banned an exhibition related to #hkprotests by claiming the event is "not public interests". On the eve of #nationalsecuritylaw, political censorship has already taken place. The situation will be much worse when #CCP-led #secretpolice agency can station in #HK.

On the eve of #Beijing's meeting on #NationalSecurityLaw, #hkpolice banned the annual demonstration on July 1, in order to suppress opposition voices against the law. Once the law is implemented, all forms of demonstrations can be viewed as "inciting subversion" in the future.

Well known for its critical voices, the only public broadcaster, RTHK, was barred from covering the flag-raising ceremony marking #HK's transfer on July 1, as they are criticized by #HKgov for its "unsatisfactory performance". Now #Beijing has further tightened its red line.

Pro-#Beijing parties start framing "supporting crowdfunding and small-amount donations" as the evidence of "collusion with foreign forces". Clearly, #NationalSecurityLaw will usher in a reign of terror, as #secretpolice can freely frame you and extradite to #China for trial.

Today, the United States is ending exports of Political-Military Affairs, US Dept of State controlled U.S. origin defense equipment and sensitive U.S. Commerce Dept. controlled dual-use technologies to Hong Kong. If Beijing now treats Hong Kong as “One Country, One System,” so must we.
