Although I’m saddened I’m yet again reaching out to my trauma surgeon colleagues after another mass shooting… I’m also comforted in knowing the victims are being cared for by the very best. Kansas City, you are in the steadiest and most experienced of hands. Praying for all.

As someone who spends part of the time in the USA but in other countries too & comes from somewhere else, it’s that here we go again feeling. Fed up of hearing why gun violence in the USA simply has to be tolerated. It’s merely an excuse not to fix a huge American problem.

We, in the Pediatric Trauma Society are deeply saddened by the act of violence in Kansas City. We are grateful for pediatric trauma centers like Children’s Mercy Hospital Children's Mercy that stand, always ready, to care for injured children.

We’ve now had more mass shootings in 2024 than there have been days in the year. It’s unacceptable. We must end this senseless epidemic of gun violence tearing us at the seams.
