Officially back from my first research cruise on the Prince Madog 🚢! An incredible experience surveying #seabedintegrity in the #IrishSea. Cute critter photos to follow! 🐙 CDT SuMMeR @sos_bangor_uni Bangor University
Zoom in & you’ll see that the deep sea is recognised as a critical knowledge gap 🔎! Fantastic to see this acknowledged at the global level & thus identified as a priority for the remainder of the UN Ocean Decade!
Thank you EIMR2024 for giving me an opportunity to speak about this exciting new project! CDT SuMMeR @sos_bangor_uni Dr Stephen Watson
Day 1 of CDT SuMMeR school featured presentations on #offshorerenewableenergy. To see that my PhD project fell within a key evidence gap for OWF ‘#benthicecosystem-habitat loss’ was encouraging as it shows that our work is relevant to needs identified by the sector.
Day 2 of CDT SuMMeR school brought thought provoking presentations on marine licensing and planning from Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru | Natural Resources Wales, Dr Ellie Ford from Defra UK, and the Marine Management Organisation. The following panel discussion provided a great learning experience to understand careers in civil service.
Flash presentation CDT SuMMeR school on using #traitbased approaches to document #change in the #benthic community as a result of #offshorewind development. Excited that my snapshot of work from my first year of PhD inspired questions and discussion from my peers.
Day 3 of CDT SuMMeR school brought together a panel of advisors to discuss #career opportunities. Everyone’s willingness to share their experiences provided valuable learning for all participants. Thank you David Curnick Melanie Austen @louisa_evans @micheljkaiser and Martin Skov.
Day 4 of CDT SuMMeR brought us to #Newborough on #IsleofAnglesey. Learned about the importance of sand dunes to protect from coastal erosion. Finished the day presenting our group results of the #datachallenge. SuMMeR school was an amazing opportunity to connect with my cohort!
