For most #genealogy sites, it's near impossible for an individual to control their copyrighted content. The companies have no interest or ability to properly protecting the rights of the copyright owners. They profit off people sharing their photos with no © protection in return.

I wonder about all of the amazing things I could accomplish if I had the determination of a toddler eating Cheerios with a fork.

Such a familiar experience. I always wanted to respond with: "No, you don't understand how many underpaid staff members it took for us to just get it to this point!"

My 2nd-great grandfather's birth record from 1884 in Belgium stated the midwife was 82 years old and her hand was too shaky to sign the record, but apparently not too shaky to deliver a baby.

Found some buyer's remorse in the Sussex County, Delaware land records today. The 1790s version of a 1-star review. #genealogy #familyhistory

Me as a #genealogist: Everything should be digitized and online! Me working in #archival #digitization: You don't understand how much work it is to get these things online and accessible! Me finding my high school yearbook in a #digitalcollection: Nothing should be online ever!

In perhaps the greatest moment of Britanik/Andy Pavlo (@andypavlo.bsky.social) household synergy, I used SQLiteStudio to query a very large NY Public Library data set of clean OCR from New York City Directories. Now, I can easily search for who was living at a specific address in any given year. I miss NYPL Labs

Ick! Thanks to whoever translated and transcribed these French Colonial records in 1856 for letting me know the original text was altered by rats. I appreciate your dedication to accurately reproducing the original. 🐀🐀🐀 #genealogy

This story is wild, but genealogists would have had this case solved decades ago! He used the same birthplace and day and month after assuming his new identity! bostonglobe.com/2021/11/29/met…

Recorded my #RootsTech2022 talk last night! Felt like I was doing an infomercial for #DigitalCollections but so excited to share it with everyone soon!

Love this inscription: "Preserve this book - it will be a curiosity to generations that must follow us" Joseph Ingraham, 1 Jan 1846. Springfield, MA Town Records He was right, but I think the fact that I'm looking at it digitally at home in fuzzy slippers would 🤯 #AncestryHour

So excited RootsTech is live! Check out my session on Digging in the #DigitalArchive on using #DigitalCollections to tell the stories of your #Ancestors lives. I'll be checking in on the chat all day to answer questions. #genealogy #familyhistory familysearch.org/rootstech/sess…

My session watching plans for #RootsTech today have been derailed by a sick toddler. Unless there are any sessions about finding the common #Ancestors of Daniel Tiger and Tigger. I’m thinking 1952 Tony the Tiger is a good candidate. #Genealogy #FamilyHistory

The work Ancestry did to index the 1950 U.S. census so quickly was incredible, but the hint suggestions on the homepage sometimes make me laugh. Ah! I finally found the *checks hints* mother-in-law of my granduncle 🤷‍♀️ #Genealogy #FamilyHistory
