My first Common and Black Terns of this year in the Gipping valley, Suffolk this afternoon. Spring Black Terns are increasingly rare in the county. Gone are the days when I used to see 100 birds at the west Suffolk water bodies.

A small arrival of Whinchat on the Suffolk coast today included this showy male at Shingle Street.

Purple Heron, SWT Carlton Marshes, East Suffolk early evening. A mobile and sometimes elusive bird but did show well on occasions.

This gorgeous Spoonbill dropped in to the marsh at SWT Carlton Marshes, East Suffolk for all of about two minutes, before heading off north.

I have really enjoyed the wader passage in Suffolk over the past week. Here is the female Red-necked Phalarope and a Spotted Redshank from RSPB Minsmere 🌍 this evening.

Another spring day in coastal Suffolk produced this fine Black-winged Stilt at North Warren. A single Wood Sandpiper was also present on site.
