One of the most painful lessons of this crisis is the extent to which America cannot or will not identify with Chinese pain. Every horror that is happening here happened first in Wuhan. We covered it. Many people did not care.

I of course love this use of facial recognition on orangutans, and then reference to data security concerns :) bit.ly/3dG03vx

The youth of today! Visiting the Temple of Confucius in Qufu, China, this lout just slouched around with his shirt hanging out. Not like in the good old days. Oh, hang on, this was taken 110 years ago. They *were* the old days! (an original colour photo from 1913, not colourised)

Another entry for Ape-ril: Orangutan clothing. In the wild, orangutans will create hats and umbrellas from leaves to protect them from rain. When they have access to human cloth they will readily use it to make blankets and ponchos.

A blast from the past: A few years back I stood outside Wells Cathedral for a full day and photographed the impact of the light on the front facade. I was amazed at the outcome - at how a single entity could morph and change under the changing light. #thread
