Mary Reynolds married silversmith Philip Tidmarsh in 1775. You can see their marriage certificate here: archives.novascotia.ca/vital-statisti… Mary died in 1788. This is her gravestone, carved in the Hay family workshop. Philip died in 1812. The Old Burying Ground, Halifax
This 1828 gravestone for Royal Navy Lieut Thomas Hughes caught my eye because his wife Sarah Jane (Major), who paid for the stone gets top billing and larger type. You see this often with husbands who survived their wives. Not so much the other way around. The Old Burying Ground, Halifax

I'd wager that the decision to list Lawrence Nuttson's age (88) in roman numerals was purely to balance the composition of his 1797 gravestone. All other numerals are Hindu-Arabic. His wife Catherine died in 1818. She was 31 years younger than him. The Old Burying Ground, Halifax
