Oliver and Alyah Chmiel introduce an alcohol deletion protocol using formate and light! But this time, potent reductants weren’t enough. We had to work out how to accelerate fragmentation after reduction. Spoiler alert: acidic promoters were key! rb.gy/nt6ruo

Check out my last major project from grad school!! Amazing to work with Céline and superstar undergrad Casey, who had major contributions early in the project. My favorite part was discovering that proton balance is vital for controlling the reactivity of alkenyl sulfonium salts!
