Today marks the beginning of the trial against former Kosovo PM & president Hashim Thaci for war crimes charges, a long-expected trial that provoked much backlash in Kosovo and among the diaspora as many believe it is unfair for Kosovo Albanians to get charged with these crimes.

There’s nothing more valuable than the life of a child and nothing more painful than the loss of that life. I send my deepest condolences to all parents who lost their children in a horrible school shooting today in Belgrade and we pray for a speedy recovery to all those injured.

There were at least registered 20 attacks against journalists in north Kosovo since Friday. Protesters pushed them, threw rocks and eggs, forced them to delete footage, took away their cameras and verbally assaulted them. Their cars were vandalised, too.

Annual "Workers' Sports Games" were opened yesterday in Leposavic by local unions. Since protests are still ongoing, the games are organized in front of municipal building, and well... we got KFOR troops participating today in one of the games :) #Kosovo #leposavic #kfor

I am appalled, shocked, furious on the latest brutal, criminal attack against #Kosovo Albanian journalists by organized #Serbian gangs in Leposavic. It is high time for this madness to stop NOW, before it is too late.

🚨🇽🇰 Kosovo will host the 2030 Mediterranean Games! Kosovo's bid won the majority of votes at the General Assembly. 55 voted in favor, 8 against, and 3 abstained. This marks the first time a Western Balkan country will host the event.

9 hours later, no one knows what's happening in Kosovo. PM Kurti claims it's organized by Serbia — armored vehicles + weapons cannot have appeared out of thin air — but it's puzzling that Serbian president Vucic would support this, since it erases his advantage in the dialogue.

“These people want to turn back time,” Prime Minister Albin Kurti told The Associated Press. “They are in search of a time machine. They want to turn the clock back by 30 years. But that is not going to happen.” apnews.com/article/kosovo…

Vucic’s pre-election media spectacle exposes his dogged obsession with controlling every aspect of the narrative in Serbia, turning journalists into public enemies while spoon-feeding the public soothing yet deceptive tales. My piece for POLITICOEurope: politico.eu/article/aleksa…

Serbia is pulling out all the stops, diplomatic guns blazing, to halt tomorrow’s UN Resolution on the Srebrenica Genocide. Ahead of the vote, the country launched a campaign falsely claiming the UN is branding *all* Serbs a “genocidal nation.” My piece: politico.eu/article/serbia…

CIA Director Bill Burns visited Kosovo on his Balkan tour, which also includes stops in Bosnia and Serbia—the region's three main flashpoints. While the official agenda remains undisclosed, it's almost certain he's addressing urgent security concerns and possible future tensions.
