R.I.P. Wally Amos, creator of the "Famous Amos" cookie fortune. He grew up at 711 E. Lafayette in Smoky Hollow. His father worked nearby at the city gas plant. Amos worked in New York and CA, and in 1975 opened his first store in Los Angeles where a square is named in his honor.
