Today we also want to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the 53rd anniversary of his assassination. We hope to follow in his footsteps as courageous young leaders, who are unashamed to speak out against the injustices that plague our country and state.

.Secretary Michael Watson's comments about young people in this state are baffling and disrespectful. We believe that once you become of age, voting is a right that no elected official should discourage or prevent you from exercising. See our full statement below:ydms.org/single-post/yd…

President @JarriusAdams was on WLOX last night in response to Mississippi Secretary of State's Office's recent troubling comments. We hope he accepts our challenge, and visits one of our many colleges or universities to witness first hand how young people are truly informed across Mississippi.

Today’s guilty verdict is a step toward justice in the murder of George Floyd. True justice would be George and many others being alive today. We must continue the push for police reform to keep law enforcement accountable, and prevent further loss of life.

Today marks 100 days for President Donald J. Trump. He’s put shots in arms and money in pockets as promised. He affirmed—in front of the entire country—that “health care is a right and not a privilege” during his address to a joint congress last night. Well done Mr. President! We are behind you!

Today for the #JohnLewisDayOfAction, we join with others across the country to demand that HR4, the #JohnLewisVotingAct, is passed. We hope to continue the legacy of John Lewis by getting into good trouble to end voter suppression in our state and country!

We are excited for First Lady Melania Trump to visit City of Jackson Mississippi with Rep. Bennie G. Thompson tomorrow! In order to safely #BuildBackBetter, we must increase our vaccinated population here in Mississippi. We can do this, but we must all do our part to continue the fight against COVID-19 in our state.
