She is a billionaire who has achieved enough financial success where this truly only devalues her work and looks desperate for the charts. She is doing active harm to her public image and legacy because the art is pushed in a overconsumption style of delivery

it's not that people don't get it bc we're too modern, its that the show's commitment to apolitical period fantasy has rendered all of its wealthy leads as cartoonish paragons of virtue while the world they've built for them to live in is obviously not virtuous.

its not scandalous bc the rich people are concerned that benedict has too much power of sophie. its scandalous because rich people dont think of poor people as real people. which is why sophie is only half poor-person. everything will work out bc her daddy was a nobleman, trust.

to be fair, anthony forgets about her too. the show is designed to be as frictionless as possible and distract viewers away from questions about how the meat is made. there’s a reason she gets to leave him so we don’t have to see him abandon her when it’s time to marry kate.

in an age of fantasy where the edgy mc works alone gets all the credit and is hyperindividualistic in an alpha wolf caricature, frieren pushing community helping each other and small acts of kindness snowballing into something as big as the defeat of the demon lord is refreshing
