(1/4) Key findings: My study shows a Chinese AI image generator depicts White individuals more accurately than people of color - especially Black women & East Asian men. Worse, when errors occur, AI often alters racial features, frequently making people of color appear White.

(2/4) AI isn't neutral - it maintains and even amplifies societal biases. My research shows AI often misrepresents people of color, erasing their identities & reinforcing exclusion. In addition, the lack of interracial representation in AI images fuels harmful stereotypes.

(3/4) What’s Next? AI biases stem from imbalanced data & design choices favoring White features in the non-white setting. We need diverse datasets, fairness in AI design, and accountability measures. Policymakers & experts could work together to tackle AI-driven misrepresentation
