Just saw that our work on the conformations of charge rich IDPs and three other beautiful papers are summarized in this month's IDP Subgroup State Letter. Thanks BPS IDP Subgroup for that!

Perspective by @PappulabWashU and myself on phase separation out in Molecular Cell today. If you wonder why disordered blobs should matter for biochemical function, I suggest you read this. Spoiler: Condensates are not disordered blobs.

Another paper got published today, this time from Tiemei on the endocytosis of coacervates into liposomes! We want to thank our collaborators from the Huck Group, Mesoscopic Physics of Life (MPol) - Weber Group and prof. Hiroaki Suzuki. Read the article below:

Our review on the intertwined physics of phase separation and chemical reactions is finally available: authors.elsevier.com/a/1fh3U4r0Uny0… (50 days free access) and arxiv.org/abs/2202.13646. We focus on multicomponent systems and summarize current results. Lot’s to do in the future, though!

So happy to have the sweet celebration in the lab and thanks a lot to our lovely lab members. I would also like to give my thanks to Rohit @PappulabWashU and also my PhD advisor Xuhui Huang. This can't be done without your guidance and support.

I attended the 1st-3rd Symposium Biophysics Postgraduate Student Research in Hong Kong from 2014 to 2017 as a PhD student. Today, I felt so privileged to host the 6th one. We're honoured to have yuji sugita deliver the keynote talk. Thanks to all the speakers. A wonderful day!

Using the polarizable AMOEBA forcefields, we investigated the strengths of cation-pi and pi-pi interactions between amino acids. Our findings reveal distinct impacts of the backbone on these interactions in the dilute vs. dense phase of biomolecular phase separation.
