Emma Ritch of Engender: in 2010, value of informal childcare estimated at £343bn. Equivalent to 23% of GDP.

Anna Ritchie Allan from Close the Gap: One third of parents in severe poverty have had to turn down job because of high cost of childcare.

Research from Close the Gap: 94% of employers have equal pay policy - <⅓ have done equal pay review - 3% have taken action on pay gap.

If women were in the right place for their skills (allocative efficiency), it could be worth £17bn to the Scottish economy.
