Starting tonight at 1 AM, we’ll be sharing the real radio transmissions from the night the SS Edmund Fitzgerald was lost on Lake Superior, 50 years ago. These posts will follow the timeline as it happened, from the first reports of rough seas to the ship’s final transmission.

The Edmund Fitzgerald's story found me as a kid. That song, that profound loss. On the 50 year anniversary, Gordon Lightfoot’s The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald still mesmerizes and captures the weight of the tragedy.
