Our marine experts enjoyed talking with Welsh Government Climate Change Julie James MS on the Gower in sunnier days back in August. Welsh seas are diverse but vulnerable, so it's v encouraging to see Welsh Gov committing to completing the Marine Protected Area network yesterday. #WeNeedNature

We look forward to seeing many of you in the Senedd for this exciting event tonight, exploring how we can address the nature and climate emergency in our seas. Thank you Janet E Finch-Saunders for sponsoring the event, with Wales Environment Link members RSPB Cymru and Marine Conservation Society.

🌊 Fantastic to attend the Powering Healthy Seas event at Welsh Parliament hosted by Janet E Finch-Saunders alongside RSPB Cymru and Marine Conservation Society. 🐬 As the Welsh Parliament Common Dolphin Champion, I know how crucially important it is to deliver healthier seas.

The waters around Skomer Island are some of the richest in Wales! Dolphins and porpoises are often spotted on the journey over to the island, and seals can be seen swimming in the shallows! 🐬🌊🚤 👉Comment your favourite Skomer experience! 📸 Niki Clear

IMPORTANT PLASTICS UPDATE: Wales is to be the first part of the UK to legislate against a list of #SingleUsePlastics ❌ We welcome Wales’ efforts to address the scourge of #PlasticPollution with these new laws 👏

Our #GreatBritishBeachClean data shows over 75% of litter collected on Welsh beaches was #plastic or polystyrene Wales’ next steps are crucial with action needed to add more common #litter items to the list covered by these laws

Be careful not to disturb waders and wildfowl feeding on estuaries and shores this winter! There are easy ways to make sure you don’t cause disturbance to our vulnerable wildlife. ↔ Keep your distance 🐕‍🦺 Keep dogs on a short lead 🛣 Stick to designated paths

For Wales to reach 2030 biodiversity targets, we need better managed seas. A Marine Development Plan can help by directing development to the least environmentally sensitive areas🌊
