it’s wild that coastal cities have spent years debating if YIMBY policies will lower rents, and Austin just… did it they streamlined permitting, upzoned most of the city, and eliminated parking mandates. Tons of housing is going up and rents are plummeting. YIMBY policies work

Carpenters at CPC to say: (1) the city’s own analysis shows the OC program is not feasible for over 90% of OC parcels, (2) labor standards in SB4 should not be stripped away in LA, and (3) we did the math to propose a financially feasible new OC labor-housing incentive policy 💪

LA’s Measure ULA passed with good intentions: tax high-value property sales to help low-income renters. But the early evidence is sobering: transactions have collapsed, revenues have fallen far short, and housing projects are harder to build.

I'm consistently disappointed in the lack of creative problem-solving policy in LA. Going straight to layoffs is the most vanilla solution. WE'RE LA! There's gotta be a way to raise revenue.
