This increased madness of naming Infosec bugs and hype by media needs to stop. When execs who have little clue of Infosec demand a patch to be applies because of a half baked article by the media..it is going to be trouble. We need to get serious on presenting the real risk!

Everytime I hear GDPR, my brain goes into auto ignore mode for the next 30 seconds. The amount of snake oil being peddled is rather obnoxious!

In 5 years, looking back at the amount of time, money and resources that have been spent on GDPR, one will hopefully realise what a wasteful distraction this has all been!

One key learning for me over the past couple of years has been if you need funding for security, get Internal Audit to be the spokesperson. It's often the path of least resistance.

In Infosec, we are often guilty of sending people on a wild goose chase. Not every security vulnerability needs to be fixed, every patch does not need to be applied. If the risk is managed to an acceptable level, it is good enough. (1/2)

We need to get better at the way in which we present the actual risk. CVSS scores are great, but they need translation so that the non-infosec folks can understand and contribute to the decision making process.

It’s funny how AI and Machine Learning have become “must utter” key words in EVERY business strategy presentation!

The Infosec community can be brutal. From celebrating a person over a BlackHat keynote last summer to now..where everybody is passing judgements over how he can do only wrong. When things get rough...stand up and provide support for your mates. Don't just throw a person under!

You collect TBs of log data in your #SIEM and don't know what to search for? You want to do more than pie charts for failed logons? We already have 177 rules in our Sigma rule repo - covering generic & some specific use cases github.com/Neo23x0/sigma
