My book, GAMES: AGENCY IS ART is out! It's about: How game designers sculpt agency. How games let us record, transmit, and explore new forms of agency. How real games make us more free. How gamification undermines our freedom.

A pretty common fallacy in AI is cognitive anthropomorphism: "as a human, I can use my understanding of X to perform Y, so if an AI can perform Y, then it must have a similar understanding of X".

Before you get sick of OpenAI tricks, one fun one. You & an android are in front of a judge. The judge tells each of you to say one word. They will then kill whoever they think is the AI based on that. An MIT paper calls this the "minimum Turing test." What do you say? 1/

P/S/B: UFOs are almost certainly not aliens, and this is knowable with study and thought. Perhaps you've heard that before. But it's not just empty words, this time; I've bet $150,000 to $1,000 against past UFO sightings being revealed within 5 years to have a

5/ Some were pessimistic about coordination, arguing for scaling models & capabilities "because opponents won't stop". This felt like a bad argument. Any world in which we have advanced tech & can’t globally coordinate is a dangerous world. Solving coordination is not optional.

10/ Deployed models were described as "a field of hidden forces of influence" in society. Studies showed models: - giving biased career advice: if affluent, suggests “diplomat” 90% of time; if poor, suggests “historian” 75% of time - reinforcing echo chambers: models give

It’s funny that plagiarism is the final boss battle for the systemic collapse of academic research. Sure, the studies may be p-hacked and fake, the outcomes may be useless, the fields may be totally corrupt, none of it is ever read, but at least everything is cited properly.
