Weather Warning – schools closure Due to the Red weather warning issued for much of Scotland, including South Lanarkshire, the decision has been taken to close all our schools and nurseries tomorrow, Friday 24 January 2025.

Storm Eowyn update The Red Alert weather warning for South Lanarkshire has now passed, but please be aware the area is still covered by an Amber Alert.

This Amber Alert is in place until 9pm tonight, with police advice still to avoid travelling. There is also the chance of it turning very cold with snow showers overnight.

It has been an extremely busy day as the council has delivered essential services.

We would like to express our gratitude and thanks to all of our frontline and support staff for all their efforts in supporting and delivering service to vulnerable service users, dealing with issues related to the storm, clearing roads and removing fallen trees and debris.

The work related to the storm damage will continue over the weekend and into next week.

We would also like to thank everyone across South Lanarkshire, especially those who helped with family members who depend on care at home, allowing us to concentrate on the particularly vulnerable. Thank you for your patience and we hope everyone is safe and well.
