Today, in an old box, I found my first submission letter sent when I was 16. I wrote Ellen Datlow , editor at Omni magazine. It didn’t work out then but she did edit The Ballad of Black Tom years later. I love the earnestness of my 16 yr. old self. Took time, but he made it.
