At 9 a.m., the Chicago Fire Department will perform drills at Woodlawn Residential Commons to train firefighters on using equipment and personnel in a high-rise. Fire hoses and equipment will be used in these drills, but no one in the building will need to evacuate.

UPDATE: The Chicago Fire Department has postponed the fire drill at Woodlawn Residential Commons due to the excessive heat warning.

The hottest day of the heat wave is expected today with heat indices climbing to 105 to 110 degrees. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for all of northern IL, while a heat advisory is in effect for for much of northwestern Indiana. #ILwx #INwx
