I had fond memories of the second movie in the series. I'm afraid they don't hold up so well. It's not a terrible zombie movie, but on this rewatch I was left with the sense that it could have worked its way higher, after a promising set-up. 6 #28weekslater

While the movie is set at the concert venue, it is fresh and effective. After it moves away from it, in spite of the usual twists and turns, it cannot sustain that. Thankfully, a gleeful Josh Hartnett keeps this one watchable until the end. 6 #trap #mnightshyamalan

It's relentless optimism is perhaps the least truthful thing about Marc Webb's movie, but otherwise, yeah, relationships are serendipitous...and sometimes they remain so. 8 #500daysofsummer

Have I really never reviewed Alien here? Hard to believe, but apparently true. There are few sci-fi films that have had as important an impact and as lasting a legacy as the original Alien - in the world of film and on me, personally. 9 #alien

It's just not very memorable and I would rank it below anything like Kedi (2016) or Cats of Malta (2023), both of which are able to establish the connection between people and cats, as well as establish cats as characters more successfully. 6 #insidethemindofacat

Focused a lot on the perspective of a (bratty) twenty something year old, assistant to a famous actor who starts a relationship with her successful mother, this one puts the "charm" in charmless. 4 #AFamilyAffair

With Glass Onion aesthetics (and set on an island) and some interesting moves in the editing room, there were moments when the movie was very effective. The plot, however, is too familiar - but still kinda intriguing. 7 #BlinkTwice

One of those universally loved movies which pretty much everyone who watches movies has seen, GWH still plays as a fantastical story of genius boy who discovers therapy. I very much enjoyed rewatching it. 8 #GoodWillHunting

The first watch was tolerable enough, with some moments of reward, but the second just felt terribly blasé.This seems like a one-time-only kind of movie, unless you want to scratch the thin veneer of respectability. 5 #AnyoneButYou

To stay in this week's Glen-zone, it was finally time for Linklater's Hit Man. A seemingly simple story, this is the definition of escapist romance. 8 #HitMan

I expected something unredeemable from this Exorcist. As Friedkin himself put it: “(When I Die) I Plan to Possess David Gordon Green and Make His Life Hell”. Even as it surpassed by non-existent expectations, the movie still managed to disappoint. 4 #TheExorcistBeliever

There is an engaging simplicity to it, to its violence and the rift that expands to hint the breakdown of society, but I also understand why none of its sequels went anywhere, given the particular circumstances that make this original work. 7 #TheTexasChainSawMassacre

Was it good big, I wonder. I'm unsure, which is not to say that I didn't chuckle occasionally and even laugh a couple of times. Is that good, is that bad, is that enough? It's more than nothing, at least. 6 #NikkiGlaserSomedayYoullDie

It does little to surprise, yet still finds ways to be entertaining. There's still some juice in the minions cuteness and the positive story, (re)introducing familiar characters, is just about enough to keep the thing afloat. 6 #MinionsTheRiseofGru

What really stuck with me is this sense of how we end up ignoring the landmarks we grow up amongst, by internalizing them as part of our routine life. Taking a step back to rediscover them, to look at them differently, is worthwhile. 8 #Columbus

I always thought Beetlejuice was a children's movie that walked the line of adulthood pretty well. It's also an early Tim Burton project, which starts to look like the more idiosyncratic Burton movies that were to come. 7 #Beetlejuice

With a mix of old and new characters, I think Burton finds a decent set-up to (re)introduce everyone. With obviously improved visual, but also reliance on practical effects, BB is cute and quaint all around. 7 #BeetlejuiceBeetlejuice

There is a lot of information, a lot of analysis and even some surprising trivia that flesh out the legacy that has kept Aliens relevant to this day. Overall the movie flows well, at a good pace and keeps things interesting. 7 #AliensExpanded

The visuals and sound design remain standouts, as does the lack of spatial awareness some of the characters have. Also, the dialogue shoehorns information excessively, even as the movie leaves (a few) things to the viewer's imagination. Still a fun ride. 7 #AlienRomulus

A small indie movie about a waning influencer looking to rediscover herself, it finds pockets of truth before descending in a fairytale finale that doesn't do it much good. An engaging turn by Taylor Scorse in the lead makes for content worth exploring. 6 #UndertheInfluencer
