Lots of discussions regarding CPR in multiple casualties scenarios Crush = Hypoxia CPR and ventilation are the life saving intervention to these preventable deaths - those on the ground were doing the right thing Rapid distribution of ‘dead’ tags helps no one in this situation

Empathy following a disaster - a short 🧵 1/ I’m sure, like me, many of you have seen the news from Seoul and struggled to comprehend how hard it must be for families, survivors and first responders such as paramedics, police and trained bystanders.

This is absolutely one of the reasons for the ‘CPR if resources allow’ in our new ten second triage tool. Preventable causes of death such as compression / crush / traumatic asphyxia eg at hillsborough which could be amenable to CPR if performed rapidly (and safe to do so)

Hans Huitink Paramedics used to be proud of intubating in the car, narrow hallway, on the garage floor, etc. We are now proud of mastering the skill of creating the optimal environment/position despite some challenges.
