As the debate over the right to read wages, what impact will the alarming increase in book bans have on children’s literacy and furthermore, on children’s mental health? That is the focus of my opening talk this morning at the NYPL Center for Educators and Schools summit on censorship.


Censorship costs us in many ways. It undermines our ability to have meaningful dialogue and weakens our opportunity to build mutual understanding When critical thinking is deemed dangerous and the right to read is restricted, everyone loses The Aspen Institute thanks for sharing!
